Chord Dictionary App Reviews

8 Customer Reviews:

My Operating System and computer: Mac OS 10.10.5 Yosemite on a Mac Mini from 2009 This software does EXACTLY what I needed, which is to look up chords by inputting the dots on the fretboard all the way up to the 24th fret. It works like a charm! As a bonus I should say that I like the sound of the guitar that plays the chords/notes a lot. It sounds more realistic than simply midi "pling plong” sounds that a lot of apps use. All in all a perfect $2 transaction.

Cant be trusted

Cant be trusted Playing only the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings barred in the 2nd fret is an A not E6sus4

if youre looking for a D#dim7 fingering it wont find it for you. You have to build the chords yourself. If you know how to finger the chord, who cares what its called.

awesome app for seeing chords from picking the frets and strings, the would be better if you were able to search for a chord and it show up

With only a few minutes of use I have these few comments. The app indeed does seem to correctly identify chords. If you put in weird stuff it will give you suitably weird answers--music theory is robust enough to name any random chord you throw at it, and this app does it. Given more sane inputs, the app gives standard chord names back, including some pretty sophisticated stuff. However, it is impossible to access frets above five. Attempting to scroll briefly causes the fretboard to flicker as though trying to scroll to higher frets but then reverts back to frets one through five, but now with a band of white extending across the picture of the fretboard which is erased when Clear is set. (This is on a MacBook Pro with trackpad.) Also, the textual labels to the left (fret numbers) and across the bottom (positions within the chord such as root, #5, etc.) are unnecessarily small and thus hard to read. Furthermore, they do not scale in size when the window is enlarged. These problems should never have appeared in a released app. But here they are. Fixe these problems and youll get five stars from me.

I was looking for an app that could tell me what chords I was coming up with on guitar, and to help me remember other more standard chords. Click the tab into the grid and there it is! This is such a clean and useful app! I am extremely pleased.

Not What I was looking for

Looking for an ap to tell me how to play certain chords, not just let me pick fret positions and it name it. Not what I was looking for.
